Freedom in Christ

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

-Galatians 5:1

Lord, thank you for setting me free from my burdens.  They come in all forms: sin, worry, heartache, and pain.  They are one size fits all too.  I have experienced their burden and many times felt the hopelessness that accompanies them.  Help me not to rely on myself, but to rely on your power that has brought me freedom.  There is no greater freedom in this world.  Although I try to stand firm, and will do so all the days of my life, help me also to perpetually be bowed before you seeking your power and freedom.  This reminds me that true strength come from you.  You know well how too often I want to replace your light and carefree yoke with a yoke of slavery.  This slavery to my own agenda, desires, and anxieties are not the burden that is meant for me.  I am a child of freedom.  I am free in you and in you alone.  Give me a true sense of your freedom today and help me to be recognized as one who lives under it.
