This blog and the blogger have something significant in common: they are both “en camino.” The Spanish term “en camino” means “on the path” or “on the way.” It can also carry the meaning of “in process,” which is what I was going for. There is little in my life that is not in process. My thinking, my maturity, my abilities, my golf game, my wisdom and knowledge, my parenting, my relationships, and my faith are all “en camino.”
With this in mind, I echo the sentiments of the Apostle Paul who after talking about his passionate desire to know Christ says,
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Like Paul, I am a disciple of Jesus who is in the process and pursuit of knowing Jesus more. I will never fully arrive while on this earth but I press on toward that goal. Within my blog posts you will find my humble reflections as I’m “en camino.” If you find something on this blog of use to your life and faith journey I will be humbled and pleased.
I grew up in a loving ministry family in Campo Grande, Brazil and Reading, Pennsylvania.
I was educated at Harding University in Searcy, AR in Bible. I attended the Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, TN where I received my M.Div.
I have been married to my best friend Jamie since 2002 and we have been blessed with two fun and energetic little humans to raise, Hannah and Luke.
I have ministered in Cochabamba, Bolivia as a church planter; in Spanish Fort, Alabama as a youth minister; and in Houston, Texas as an education and involvement minister. I am blessed now to be the preaching minister for the Okolona Church of Christ in Louisville, Kentucky.
I love reading, writing, the Philadelphia Eagles, throwing my kids around, hanging out with my wife, good burgers, watching movies, playing basketball and golf, and traveling. Most of all, I love my Lord and Savior and I am so glad that he loves me, has redeemed me, and is so patient with me.
